Overview

Scandit Express for iOS supports deployment via any Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) systems.

The screenshots in the guide below are from MobileIron Cloud. However, these instructions apply to almost any MDM/EMM solution vendor.

How to Distribute Scandit Express on iOS

1. Add application to app catalog and configure distribution.

You can distribute our app directly from the Apple App Store. Search for "Scandit Express" in the admin console for your EMM/MDM solution and add it to your app catalog.

2. Set Scandit Express project code

To automatically synchronize your Scandit Express configuration with Scandit, you need to set the project code in the management console of your MDM/EMM solution. Once set, your users won't have to manually activate Scandit Express via QR code. Configuration changes are also automatically distributed to all devices.

Click on your project card

3. Click on the "Copy Project Code" link next to the QR code in the dashboard.

The "project code" embedded in the QR code is a 64-character code, such as:

4. In your MDM system, paste this value in the "iOS Managed App Configuration" section. Please note that this screen might look different in your specific EMM/MDM system.

You will need to pass the "project code" value through a key under the name WEDGE_DEPLOYMENT_CODE

In case your MDM system requires an AppConfig configuration, you can generate one at https://appconfig.jamfresearch.com/generator by selecting Scandit Express as:

Due to Apple’s security and privacy restrictions, Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems, cannot automatically set Scandit Express as the default keyboard during deployment. Due to this being an iOS restriction, it must be configured manually by the user on the device. To simplify this process, Scandit Express includes a built-in workflow that detects whether the necessary settings are applied and guides users through the configuration process.
